Lotus Lantern Initiative is a U.S. registered 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization dedicated to providing direct humanitarian support to families in Gaza.

We connect compassionate donors with families facing urgent humanitarian needs through transparency, accountability, and direct impact. Our work supports emergency food assistance, medical care, shelter, and an orphanage caring for 23 orphaned children.

A little update…

Over the past few years, this page has become a little bit of everything—my books, publishing, memoirs, succulents, gardening, hairstyling, random ADHD thoughts… and, of course, Gaza.

As my journey has grown, I realized these stories deserve their own homes.

🌿 @gigiishuman will continue to be my creative space—where I share my books, publishing journey, memoir, plants, salon life, and all the wonderfully random ideas that make me who I am.

🕊️ @gazathroughmyeye will be dedicated entirely to the stories of my friends in Gaza.

For nearly three years, I’ve had the privilege of building friendships with doctors, teachers, writers, artists, parents, and children. Every story I share is shared with permission and built on friendship, trust, and our shared humanity.

A new project from Lotus Lantern Initiative 🤍

Together with Shatha, we are launching an Orphan Support Project to help children in Gaza who have lost their primary providers. This project will provide essentials like clothing, food, clean water, school supplies, and community care — so children can continue living with dignity, even in the hardest circumstances.

$500 has already been sent to begin this project.
It may seem small, but every seed matters. This is how we start — one child, one family, one act of care at a time.

What I do through Lotus Lantern Initiative has always been open to collaboration. If you are a student, professional, or community member looking to volunteer with a legitimate 501(c)(3) nonprofit built on service, not profit — you are welcome here.

🌸 How Lotus Lantern Was Born

I was born in a refugee camp.
I grew up poor, in an abusive household with a crackhead father.
I watched my brother cycle in and out of juvie.
Watched my mom being beat.
I was abused, m*lested, r*ped.
My life was trauma on top of trauma.

There were three times when I tried to end my life. Three times when I believed there was no way forward. And yet — every single time, God kept me here. I didn’t understand why back then. But now I know: I was being prepared.

Survival became my training ground. Every heartbreak, every struggle, every time I hit rock bottom — it was shaping me into someone who could hold others through their pain.

I didn’t go to school for this. I was trained in the battlefield of life.

Lotus Lantern Initiative was born from that fire.
It is not just an organization — it is my testimony.

I know what it means to lose everything. I know what it means to feel invisible. And I also know what it means to rise again. That is why I stand with families in Gaza, with survivors, with anyone who is forced to live through what feels impossible.

I have been training my whole life for this. And now, I use every ounce of that strength to make sure others are not alone in theirs.

Lotus Lantern is my answer to the question: What do we do with the pain we’ve survived?
We turn it into light.
We turn it into love.
We turn it into action.

This system gives them responsibility, dignity, and the power to help their own community. It also allows me to keep track of 31 active campaigns without losing sight of the individual lives behind each one.
